I Heart Faces | Motherhood

I'm loving the theme this week at IHF. This is one of my favorite motherhood shots. It's my friend Kelly and her sweet baby girl Bailey. The light coming in from these windows was so heavenly, it felt almost angelic to me.

I Heart Faces | Soft and Sweet

Soft and sweet. Hmm... that kind of sums up my style in a nutshell. So which image do I enter? Gosh, is was a hard one. I've got a lot of super soft newborn shots that would fit this theme perfectly.

I think I'm going to go with this shot of my own baby (sorry, my "boy," as he likes to correct me nowadays when I call him my baby... "No, mommy, I'm not a baby. I'm a boy. I'm Luke Brown.") :)

Here he is all snuggled up in his crib fast asleep, which is pretty much the only way to get a little boy to fit into this theme. Forever my baby...

I Heart Faces | Slice of Life

Over at I Heart Faces, the theme for this week's photo challenge is "Slice of Life."

A few days ago, I caught this shot of Luke as he was waking up from his nap.

It makes me smile! :)

For my friends who aren't familiar with I Heart Faces, it's a great photography website that offers fun weekly photo challenges, camera tips, and photography tutorials. Check out more entries for this week's challenge at:

I Heart Faces | Anything but a Face

There were a few contenders, but I think this is my favorite non-face photo that I've taken!

I Heart Faces | Scenic B&W

Monday. I Heart Faces day! Yay! I am so thankful for this site. It gives me a fun, creative break from the Holiday photo editing frenzy that is my life right now. :)

I've been looking forward to this week's challenge since I knew we would be spending Thanksgiving with Ben's family in Lake City, FL. North Florida's scenery is gorgeous, so of course I brought my camera along in hopes of snapping some nature shots. The face component of the photo came about when my husband began exploring his parents' house looking for a way to get his daily pull-up workout in. We pondered some ideas, and when the tractor idea came up, a little happy dance commenced in my head as the concept for my IHF photo came to life.

Here's what came of it all:

I love my hottie, I mean hubby. ;) And the pretty trees behind him as well. :)

I Heart Faces | Paper Challenge

Ok. I'm bad at blogging. Really bad at it. I've been meaning to start posting client photos on my blog but I've been too busy shooting and editing to get over here and do it. So the blog has been neglected.

Except for the weekly I Heart Faces Photo Challenges. They're super fun. And they require a blog post in order to enter. So it's a win win. I get to take fun photos and my blog gets to be blogged on a little. :)

Here's my "Paper" Entry. I snapped this shot of my son getting ready to draw. It's so simple, but I love it.

I won blog templates!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Angie at Angie Arthur photography and I Heart Faces for choosing me to win Becky Earl's beautiful blog templates! What a perfect way to get my blog off the ground! Angie and Becky are two of my favorite photographers. Their work inspires me DAILY to find the heart and soul in each and every photograph that I take. And their efforts to help new photographers like me learn the craft and bring the photography world together rather than apart have meant the world to me.

So, for my first ever BeArt Template, I chose to showcase the one I love most in this whole wide world... my son Luke.

Hmm.. photographing a rambunctious toddler in a dimly lit room at nighttime... what?! Be still my heart, I love my new 50mm 1.4 lens!! And I really, really love this little boy... <3 Thanks again to Becky and Angie for the beautiful blog templates. I love them to pieces!

Welcome, welcome!

Hi all! I'm about to launch my photography website and am SOO excited to get my brand spankin' new blog up and running! A little background before I hit the ground running...

I've been dabbling in photography as a hobby for many years, and about a year ago I finally got serious and bought my first DSLR, a Nikon D3000. It was instant love. Since then, I've taken several photography classes, read every book on the subject that I could find, and taken a zillion pictures of anyone and anything that would allow me ;). My favorite subject is my beautiful baby boy Luke, whose photo I promise you will grace my blog posts most often.

In the recent months, some of my wonderful friends, family, and now clients have begun actually hiring me to take their photographs (craziness!)! I am truly gratefully to all of you who saw something special in my photos and believed in me enough to allow me to photograph YOU. There is nothing I love more than to find and capture the heart and soul of a person in an image and allow it to live on forever.

So, stay tuned for lots and lots of beautiful photos!

xo,
Jen
